FAQs
Who is SALSA for?
SALSA is for current and incoming South Asian leaders of student organizations. Presidents, vice presidents, board members, and organizers who are actively running things on campus.
Is this another student club?
No. SALSA doesn’t replace your campus organization and doesn’t govern it. It’s a peer network for you as a leader, not a new layer of bureaucracy.
What’s the actual time commitment?
Depends on you. SALSA is designed to plug into on a needs basis. Engage when something is relevant, not on a fixed weekly schedule.
Is this just for Indian Student Associations?
No. SALSA is for South Asian leaders across student orgs.
Is this an activist or political group?
No. SALSA isn’t about pushing positions or politics. It’s a space to understand what’s happening nationally, learn from each other and make informed decisions that empower you, and fit your campus and community.
Is this only for large universities?
No. Smaller schools often benefit the most through regional collaboration, shared programming, and access to visibility they wouldn’t have on their own.
What do members actually get access to?
A national peer network, private discussions, opportunities for visibility, regional collaboration, and pathways into ASAN’s media and events ecosystem.
Is there a cost to join?
No. SALSA is free for student leaders.
Do international students belong here?
Yes. SALSA intentionally brings together domestic and international student leaders to bridge gaps and share perspective.
What happens after graduation?
You stay connected through ASAN’s broader professional network. SALSA is a starting point.
