ASAN hosts South Asians in Sports mixer in Los Angeles

The gathering brought together professionals from across the sports ecosystem to build connections and explore opportunities for greater South Asian participation in the industry.

The American South Asian Network (ASAN), South Asians in Sports and Tulsea Sports Marketing hosted the “South Asians in Sports: Soccer Week Mixer” on July 9 in Culver City, Los Angeles.

The gathering brought together South Asian professionals, founders, operators, athletes, creators, investors, media professionals and community builders working across the sports industry.

Held as Los Angeles welcomed soccer fans from around the world, the event created an informal setting for attendees to meet others working in sports and identify opportunities for collaboration, mentorship and professional growth.

Participants represented areas including sports media and entertainment, fitness, brand partnerships, startups, investing, wellness, fan engagement and culture. Conversations focused on career paths within the industry, the growing commercial influence of South Asian audiences and the need to make professional networks in sports more accessible to younger community members.

Organizers said the event was designed around community connection rather than a formal panel or presentation. Attendees exchanged professional experiences, introduced potential collaborators and discussed ways to improve South Asian visibility and participation across the sports ecosystem. The gathering was part of an ongoing series, following an earlier meetup held during NBA All-Star Weekend earlier this year.

“South Asians are increasingly participating in sports as athletes, executives, entrepreneurs, investors, creators and fans, but many of these individuals remain disconnected from one another,” said Nitin Bajaj, co-founder of ASAN. “Bringing people together helps turn individual participation into a stronger professional community with greater access, visibility and opportunity.”

The mixer was hosted by Mohini, Parul Khosla, Bajaj and Rohan Rangaraj representing the host organizations.

American South Asian Network (ASAN) is a national nonprofit organization focused on connecting and advancing younger South Asians in the United States through community, leadership, mentorship, professional opportunity, representation and well-being.

South Asians in Sports is a nonprofit community that works to create access, visibility and career opportunities for South Asians across the global sports industry. Its programming connects professionals and emerging talent while developing pathways for the next generation of sports leaders.

Tulsea Sports Marketing develops sports marketing strategies and activations focused on engaging multicultural audiences across North America and other markets.

Organizers said additional gatherings and programs are planned to continue developing connections among South Asians working throughout the sports industry.
