Indian American technology executive Sharmistha “Shar” Dubey has joined the board of directors of The RealReal, the San Francisco-based online marketplace for authenticated luxury resale.
The company announced the appointment Nov. 5. Dubey joined the board effective Nov. 3 as a Class II director, with a term scheduled to continue through The RealReal’s 2027 annual stockholders meeting.
Dubey brings more than two decades of experience building technology products and global consumer platforms. She served as chief executive officer of Match Group from 2020 to 2022, overseeing digital brands that included Tinder, Hinge, Match and OkCupid.
Before becoming CEO, Dubey held several operating and product leadership positions across Match Group. Her roles included company president, chief operating officer of Tinder, president of Match Group Americas and chief product officer of Match and The Princeton Review.
Born and raised in Jamshedpur, India, Dubey earned an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. She later moved to the United States and completed a master’s degree in materials science and engineering at Ohio State University.

Dubey currently chairs the board of Fortive Corporation and serves as a director of the technology investment companies Naspers and Prosus. She is also an operating partner with global private-equity firm Advent International.
At The RealReal, Dubey will contribute expertise in digital innovation, consumer engagement, corporate governance and international growth. The company operates a technology-supported resale platform covering fashion, jewelry, watches, art and home goods.
The marketplace serves approximately 45 million members and has sold more than 55 million items. It is increasingly applying artificial intelligence and proprietary data to authentication, pricing and business operations.
