From Physical AI to LGBTQ+ South Asians: ASAN Connects Communities Across Southern California
Two October gatherings in Orange County and West Hollywood connected South Asian professionals across technology, entrepreneurship, healthcare, entertainment, and diverse communities.

Southern California is home to extraordinary talent, ambition, and opportunity. Yet access to the right people often depends on where you live, what industry you work in, and who you already know.

ASAN bridges these gaps by connecting people across industries, geographies, generations, and communities, turning relationships into opportunities.

In October 2026, the American South Asian Network (ASAN) hosted two distinct professional gatherings: a Physical AI, Space & Transportation mixer in Orange County and its first LGBTQ+ South Asian professional networking mixer in West Hollywood.

Different audiences, different conversations, and a shared purpose: expanding professional networks and creating opportunities that extend beyond individual events.

Orange County: Connecting People Shaping the Physical AI Future

Artificial intelligence is moving beyond software into the physical world, transforming transportation, robotics, aerospace, manufacturing, and healthcare.

ASAN's Physical AI, Space & Transportation gathering, hosted in partnership with The Irvine Company, connected professionals from AC Future, Karma Automotive, Rivian, Medtronic, and other organizations.

Engineers, founders, entrepreneurs, and professionals exchanged ideas about emerging technologies, industry partnerships, and career opportunities.

Kiran, who is exploring a career transition from construction into technology, attended to connect with professionals in the industries he hopes to enter.

"I'm looking to transition from construction into tech. Meeting people already working in these industries gives me a better understanding of the opportunities and how to make that move."

His experience illustrates how access to professional networks can help individuals navigate career transitions and discover opportunities beyond their existing industries.

With companies and professionals working across automotive technology, aerospace, medical devices, and advanced manufacturing, Orange County offers opportunities for cross-industry collaboration.

ASAN connects established industry professionals with entrepreneurs, emerging leaders, and people exploring new career paths, expanding access to mentorship, partnerships, and professional opportunities.

West Hollywood: A First for ASAN's LGBTQ+ South Asian Community

ASAN hosted its first LGBTQ+ South Asian Professional Networking Mixer in West Hollywood in collaboration with Intro.

The gathering brought together professionals from art, entertainment, fashion, law, pharmaceuticals, medicine, technology, and other industries.

Attendees connected across professional backgrounds and shared experiences, developing relationships within Los Angeles's diverse South Asian community.

Samir had moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles just three days before the event.

"I moved to LA from San Francisco just three days ago. Meeting so many people from different backgrounds made it easier to start building connections in a new city."

For someone establishing themselves in a new city, access to professional and community relationships can make an immediate difference.

The gathering also recognized the diversity of South Asian identities and experiences. LGBTQ+ South Asian professionals bring perspectives shaped by their careers, communities, cultures, and personal journeys.

By connecting these professionals across industries and career stages, ASAN expands opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, representation, and professional growth.

Different Industries. Different Identities. Shared Opportunities.

What connects someone transitioning from construction into technology with someone who has just relocated from San Francisco to Los Angeles?

Both are navigating change. Both benefit from relationships that can help them take their next step.

An introduction can lead to a job opportunity. A conversation can become a mentorship. Professionals from different industries can discover opportunities to collaborate, invest, or launch something together.

ASAN connects South Asians across industries, geographies, generations, and identities, expanding access to relationships, resources, and opportunities that drive professional and personal growth.

The Orange County and West Hollywood gatherings demonstrate the breadth of these connections. One brought together professionals working across emerging technologies. The other connected LGBTQ+ South Asians representing a wide range of professions.

Both strengthened relationships within ASAN's national network.

Connections That Create Real Opportunities

Over the past two years, ASAN has connected thousands of South Asians through professional gatherings, community initiatives, mentorship, and partnerships across the country.

Based on outcomes reported by participants, these connections have helped facilitate approximately $5 million in investments, dozens of internships and jobs, film projects, and business and personal partnerships.

Through SANGAM, ASAN Scale, South Asian Vitality, South Asian Spotlight, and its national network of events and partnerships, ASAN connects younger South Asians to mentorship, capital, professional opportunities, leadership, and influence.

For Kiran, the next opportunity could be a career in technology. For Samir, it could be relationships that help him establish himself in Los Angeles. For others, it may be a mentor, business partner, investor, collaborator, or lifelong friend.

The strength of a community is reflected in the opportunities its members create for one another and the progress they make together.
