Omnissa appoints former Google Cloud leader Amit Singh as CEO

Indian-origin technology executive Amit Singh has been appointed chief executive officer of Omnissa, the Mountain View, California-based digital work platform company. His appointment took effect immediately on Sept. 28.

Singh brings more than 35 years of experience building and leading enterprise technology businesses. He most recently served as president of Palo Alto Networks, where he was responsible for the cybersecurity company’s business and operations. During his tenure, Omnissa said, Palo Alto Networks increased its market value fivefold and launched several businesses that reached billion-dollar scale.

Before joining Palo Alto Networks, Singh spent nearly a decade at Google. He helped establish Google Cloud and later served as its president, guiding companies toward Gmail, Google Docs and the broader cloud platform. Earlier, he worked for 20 years at Oracle in product, engineering, sales and strategy roles.

At Omnissa, Singh will lead a company focused on managing and securing the devices, applications and digital environments used by modern workforces. The company serves 26,000 customers worldwide, including seven of the 10 largest Fortune 500 companies, and employs about 4,000 people.

His appointment comes as Omnissa expands its work around what it calls agentic endpoints. These are laptops, phones and other devices where artificial intelligence agents can act with a user’s identity and permissions. Singh said the company’s existing access to device credentials, traffic, telemetry and remediation tools gives it a foundation to help businesses manage that shift safely.

Singh also founded abovecloud9.ai, an initiative that applies artificial intelligence to expand access to meditation and mental well-being programs in partnership with the Art of Living Foundation.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Delhi College of Engineering and a master’s degree in industrial and management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The appointment places an Indian-origin executive with experience at Oracle, Google and Palo Alto Networks at the head of a major U.S. enterprise technology company as workplace computing enters a new phase shaped by artificial intelligence.
