Indian American philanthropists Anuradha and Vikas Sinha have given $20 million to the University of North Texas to expand education and research in artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.
UNT announced the gift Sept. 8. In recognition of the couple’s commitment, the university will establish the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics.
The new college will bring together programs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, advanced analytics, health informatics, information science, library science and learning technologies. Its work will focus on the development, application and responsible use of AI and intelligent systems.
The gift will create six permanent endowments supporting college leadership, student scholarships, endowed professorships, entrepreneurship and incubation, advanced research and emerging technologies. It will also establish an Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Institute to encourage interdisciplinary research, shared infrastructure and partnerships with industry.
Vikas Sinha earned a doctorate in data science from UNT in 2023 and serves on the university’s College of Information Leadership Board. Originally from India, he moved to the United States for graduate study and built a career in enterprise technology.
He is vice president of engineering and architecture for Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division. His earlier career included leadership roles involving predictive analytics, software engineering and research and development at IBM, SPSS and CA Technologies.
The Sinhas have supported UNT’s data-science programs for several years. A gift of more than $3 million in 2024 established the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha Department of Data Science. They later contributed more than $2 million to create the Sinha Innovation Lab for Data Science, which opened in 2026.
Their latest commitment significantly expands that work from a department and laboratory into a named college with broader academic and research responsibilities.
The investment will give students access to scholarships, faculty expertise and applied research opportunities while helping UNT build stronger connections with employers across North Texas. It also creates a lasting institutional platform for responsible AI education as businesses, public agencies and communities increasingly rely on data-driven systems.
