Indian-origin finance and technology executive Raju Datla has joined MobileX as chief financial officer, taking responsibility for financial strategy as the California-based wireless company enters its next phase of growth.
MobileX announced the appointment on Oct. 2. Datla will work with founder and CEO Peter Adderton and the company’s leadership team on its business plan, funding, strategic partnerships and long-term financial priorities.
Datla brings more than 25 years of experience spanning finance, telecommunications, digital infrastructure and technology. He most recently served as chief financial officer of RedCloud Holdings, where he led finance, capital markets and the financial execution of the company’s international expansion.
Before RedCloud, Datla was chief strategy officer at Tillman Fiber. He also served as chief financial officer and co-founder of NxtGen Datacenter & Cloud Technologies, a company focused on data center and cloud infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking at Deutsche Bank.
During his time at Deutsche Bank, Datla advised technology, media and telecommunications companies on more than $12 billion in mergers and acquisitions, debt offerings and equity transactions. That combination of operating and capital-markets experience will support MobileX as it expands distribution and invests in its technology platform.
MobileX, headquartered in Orange County, uses artificial intelligence to estimate how much mobile data customers need. The company says its model is designed to give consumers more control over wireless costs while maintaining reliable service.
Adderton said Datla understands both the technology and financial strategy required to scale the business. Datla said he plans to help MobileX execute its growth plans across finance, operations and partnerships.
Datla earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Bangalore University in India. He later received a master’s degree in computer information systems from St. Mary’s University and an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School.
His appointment places an Indian-origin executive with experience across U.S. banking, telecommunications and infrastructure in a senior leadership role at an American wireless company seeking to challenge traditional service models.
