Cedars-Sinai has appointed physician-scientist Ravi Thadhani, MD, MPH, as executive vice president, chief physician executive and dean of the Medical Faculty. He will assume the newly created position on September 1.
Thadhani will oversee Cedars-Sinai’s clinical and academic enterprises, bringing its patient care, research and education programs under unified leadership. His responsibilities will include leading department chairs, institute directors, vice deans and chief medical officers across the health system.
He currently serves as executive vice president of Clinical Affairs and chief medical officer for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Health System. In his expanded role, he will retain responsibility for clinical quality, safety and medical standards while assuming oversight of Cedars-Sinai Health Sciences University and the Burns and Allen Research Institute.
Thadhani previously held leadership roles at Harvard Medical School, Mass General Brigham and Emory University. He has authored or co-authored more than 300 scientific papers and is recognized for his research in nephrology and preeclampsia.
His work with Cedars-Sinai collaborators contributed to the development of the first Food and Drug Administration-approved test designed to predict preeclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication affecting mothers and babies.
Thadhani was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2025 and named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2026.
