The Timken Company, a global leader in engineered bearings and industrial motion products, has appointed Tarak Mehta as its new president and CEO. Mehta, who has been recognized for his strategic vision and leadership skills, also joins the company’s Board of Directors.
He succeeds Richard G. Kyle, who will remain in an advisory capacity until his retirement in February 2025.
Mehta’s Extensive Industry Experience
Tarak Mehta brings over 35 years of industry experience, including 26 years at ABB, where he led the Motion business and served on the Group Executive Committee.
During his tenure at ABB, he demonstrated his expertise in driving profitable growth, spearheading customer-centric innovations, and managing global teams. His leadership helped ABB accelerate organic growth and improve operational efficiency.

Transition from Richard G. Kyle
Richard G. Kyle, who led the company for a decade, will transition to an advisory role after his retirement and remain a member of Timken’s Board of Directors.
Under Kyle’s leadership, Timken became a global leader in its sector, with two industry-leading segments: Engineered Bearings and Industrial Motion.
Kyle’s tenure was marked by significant growth, diversification, and operational efficiency. John M. Timken Jr., Chairman of the Timken Company, praised Kyle’s leadership and acknowledged Mehta’s potential to continue the company’s strong trajectory.

Tarak Mehta holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
