EY (Ernst & Young LLP) has named Yogesh Gupta, CEO of Progress Software, as the winner of its Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2025 New England Award, recognizing his leadership in transforming the company through innovation and strategic growth.
Gupta, who has served as the chief executive of Nasdaq-listed Progress Software since 2016, was selected for the honor by an independent panel of judges comprising former winners and industry leaders.
The panel cited his role in accelerating the company’s growth, driving acquisitions, and fostering a people-first approach to business leadership.
The Entrepreneur Of The Year program, now in its 40th year, is among the most prestigious awards for entrepreneurs in the United States.
It honors business leaders demonstrating long-term value creation, entrepreneurial spirit, and community impact.
Under Gupta’s leadership, Progress Software has more than doubled in size, completed five strategic acquisitions, including the landmark acquisition of ShareFile in 2024, and expanded its workforce from 1,500 to over 3,000 employees globally.

The company’s products currently support more than 75 percent of Fortune 500 firms, with a strong focus on AI-powered digital experience and infrastructure software.
Gupta attributed the company’s success to its “Total Growth Strategy,” which combines innovation in artificial intelligence, focused M&A activity, and a strong emphasis on customer success.
“Entrepreneurship is about more than building a business—it’s about building a future,” Gupta said in a statement. “I’m proud to lead a company that innovates not only in technology but also invests in people, communities, and purpose.”
Progress Software, headquartered in Massachusetts, has seen record revenues during Gupta’s tenure.
In addition to product and revenue growth, the company has also emphasized operational excellence and mentorship, fostering a culture of agility and collaboration.
As a regional winner, Gupta will now be considered for the 2025 National Entrepreneur Of The Year® Awards, to be announced this November at the EY Strategic Growth Forum.
National winners from the U.S. will subsequently compete for global honors at the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ event in 2026.
The Entrepreneur Of The Year program was launched in 1986 and has recognized over 11,000 entrepreneurs in the U.S. alone. It currently operates across nearly 60 countries.
